Hi Everyone,
A quick note to let our members know that we have a special video showing in the upcoming month. We finally have, in our hands, a movie of one of the most impactful and controversial experiments in the fields of social pschology, behavioral psychology, and experimental psychology. The title of the movie is "Obedience", based on the research experiment and findings of famous psychologist Stanley Milgram. You may have read about him in one of your psychology or sociology text books. One of the reasons his study was so famous was because he began the experiment three months after the start of the trial of Adolf Eichmann in Jerusalem. Milgram devised the experiment to answer the question "Could it be that Eichmann and his million accomplices in the Holocaust were just following orders? Could we call them all accomplices?" (Milgram experiment. (2006, October 31). In Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Retrieved 20:56, November 1, 2006, from http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Milgram_experiment&oldid=84926905 )
We are planning to show this film on our very own SMC campus in November (specific date, time and place to be confirmed) FREE OF CHARGE. It will be open to all students and professors from all related majors. We're also planning to open up a forum and panel discussion after the movie. If you want to find out more about this film, the background behind the experiement & findings, or Stanley Milgram visit these suggested links to start with:
We need your (members) help to promote, this film to friends or other classmates. Please contact Christian or I if you're motivated and able to help with either promotion or event planning and logistics. I know as students here, our schedules can be pretty heavy, and we understand that. Any help would be fantastic!
